Aerodrome Licence Application
It is the responsibility of the CAA to ensure that the holders of an aerodrome licence are competent and suitable persons to exercise the privileges of that licence. The CAA uses CAP 168 Licensing of Aerodromes in support of the granting of an aerodrome licence in accordance with Article 211 of the Air Navigation Order (ANO) 2009.
The CAA must be satisfied that the applicant for, or holder of an aerodrome licence has control over or access to the operational areas of the aerodrome in order for him to meet his obligations under the Air Navigation Order.

The licensing process will take a minimum of 60 days from the date on which the aerodrome manual is agreed with the CAA.It is important that applicants submit the required paperwork sufficiently early to allow for detailed consideration of the application, and for inspection of the site. The CAA cannot undertake to reach a licensing decision within a particular time scale or to meet a commercial deadline of the applicant.
A permanent aerodrome licence is issued without an expiry date, but an annual licence fee is payable. The licence will remain in force until it is varied, suspended or revoked.
A seasonal aerodrome licence is ussed for a period exceeding 12 days but not exceeding 12 months.
A temporary aerodrome licence is issued for a period not exceeding 12 consecutive days.
