Air Operator Certificates

Information regarding the legislative and guidance material associated with AOCs and a list of UK AOC holders

Any company wishing to operate an aircraft on the UK register for the purpose of public transport must, by law, obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority.

The CAA has produced a leaflet to raise awareness of how passengers can ensure that their flight is legal, and of the risks associated with an uncertificated operation.

An AOC will be granted only to operators that demonstrate conformity to all set requirements.

EU-OPS prescribes the requirements applicable to the operation of any civil aeroplane for the purpose of commercial air transportation by any operator whose principle place of business is in a European Community Member State.
