Although this company was not ATOL protected and the CAA is not responsible for protecting its bookings, we have received enquiries from consumers and members of the travel industry regarding the situation and this information is provided for further clarification.

Am I ATOL protected if I booked with the Low Cost Travel Group?

The company was not part of the UK's ATOL scheme. It was based in Mallorca and was registered with the Balearic Islands authorities. We understand that the Balearic Islands authorities are responsible for the holiday protection arrangements for the company's customers. We advise you to review the Low Cost website for more information on making a claim: www.lowcosttravelgroup.com.

However, if you have an ATOL Certificate and your booking is with an ATOL holder, please see below for further information.

  • We understand that some ATOL holders used the Low Cost Travel Group as a supplier for components booked as part of a package or Flight-Plus. In these circumstances the ATOL holder you booked with is required to look after you.

    Further details are below.

    Am I protected?

If your accommodation or flight cannot be provided by the supplier, your ATOL holder should provide you with an alternative, at no extra cost.

    How do I get home?

We understand that you should have valid flight tickets to use to return home to the UK. However, we would advise customers to check with their ATOL holder or their airline as to the status of their bookings.

Contact information for the ATOL holder should be available on your documentation or on our website using our “Check an ATOL” facility.

What do I do if my hotel is asking me to pay again?

If you are asked to pay for your accommodation again, please speak to your ATOL holder for advice.
Contact information for the ATOL holder should be available on your documentation or on our website using our “Check an ATOL” facility.

Will I still get my holiday?

If your accommodation or flight cannot be provided by the supplier, your ATOL holder will either provide you with an alternative or if not possible, a refund of your booking.

Please contact your ATOL holder for more advice. Their contact details should be available on your documentation or on our website using our “Check an ATOL” facility.

    How do I return home?

Our understanding is Lowcost customers abroad should have valid flight tickets to use to return home to the UK. However, we would advise customers to check the status of their bookings with their airline. If you are required to pay for your return flight, please see the Low Cost website for advice on how to reclaim this cost: www.lowcosttravelgroup.com.

What do I do if my hotel is asking me to pay again?

You may be asked to pay for your accommodation or transfer locally. Please see the Low Cost website for advice on how to reclaim this cost: www.lowcosttravelgroup.com.

Can I get my money back for my holiday?

The company was not part of the UK's ATOL scheme and therefore we are unable to clarify this. Please see the Low Cost website for advice on how to reclaim the cost of your booking: www.lowcosttravelgroup.com.

If you are making a claim under the Consumer Credit Act and your card issuer is requesting a CAA rejection letter, you may find it helpful to provide a copy of this letter.

Can I continue with my holiday?

Please see the Low Cost website for information on this: www.lowcosttravelgroup.com.

However, before you consider continuing with your travel, we strongly advise you to check with suppliers as to the validity of your booking and whether further payment will be required.
