Markhor Traders Ltd ATOL 10909 has ceased trading with immediate effect.

The company based in Harrow traded as Markhor Flights and the websites www.flightmart.co.uk, www.markosflights.co.uk, www.travelwithsmile.co.uk, www.caribbeanvybz.co.uk, and www.markhorflights.com.

The company sold the following ATOL protected bookings:

  • Air inclusive package holidays
  • “Flight-Only” booking

The company also sold non- ATOL products which are NOT protected by the ATOL scheme:

  • Package holidays that did not include flights
  • Accommodation only bookings
  • Bookings made after 30 October 2016
  • Flight tickets paid in full at the time of booking with flight tickets issued immediately

On an ATOL protected package

Flight arrangements

If you are currently overseas on a ATOL protected package trip purchased with Markhor Traders Ltd and were issued with an ATOL Certificate and confirmation which state 'Package sale', if you hold a schedule flight ticket, the flight should remain valid for the return to the UK. Passengers are advised to check with the airline as per their existing flight ticket. If the airline advises that a ticket has not been issued or is not valid, consumers should ask the airline to confirm this in writing as this confirmation will be needed to make a claim. If your ticket back to the UK is not valid, consumers are advised to make alternative arrangements and retain a clear receipt showing the method of payment; which will be required in order to submit a claim.

Accommodation arrangements

It is possible that consumers may be required to pay again for accommodation, or other elements purchased as part of the ATOL protected package. Consumers who are required to repay, should ensure that they retain a clear receipt showing the method of payment; which will be required in order to submit a claim. Consumers experiencing issues should contact the number shown on their ATOL Certificate providing full booking details.

On an ATOL protected “Flight-Only”

If you are currently overseas on a “Flight-Only” trip purchased with Markhor Traders Ltd and were issued with an ATOL Certificate and confirmation which state “Flight-Only”, if you hold a schedule flight ticket, the flight should remain valid for the return to the UK. Passengers are advised to check with the airline as per their existing flight ticket. If the airline advises that a ticket has not been issued or is not valid, consumers should ask the airline to confirm this in writing as this confirmation will be needed to make a claim. If your ticket back to the UK is not valid, consumers are advised to make alternative arrangements and retain a clear receipt showing the method of payment; which will be required in order to submit a claim.

Consumers due to travel

On an ATOL protected package

If you booked an ATOL protected package directly with Markhor Traders Ltd, were issued with an ATOL Certificate and confirmation which state 'Package sale', and you hold scheduled tickets the flight may be valid, passengers are advised to check with the airline, if the airline confirms you have a valid ticket for travel you have two options:

Option 1

If you do not wish to use your flight you can make a claim for a refund for the amount you paid to Markhor Traders Ltd for your ATOL Protected package. Also for passengers whose flights are not-valid.

If you paid for your original trip either partially or fully by credit card to Markhor Traders Ltd, your claim will be with the credit card provider for the portion you paid by credit card and the CAA for payments by other methods. See credit card letter below.

If you paid for your original trip by any other methods to Markhor Traders Ltd, your claim will be with the CAA.

Option 2

You can use your flight and if required make a claim for the cost of replacing the other elements included in your original package. i.e. your accommodation, transfers, tours or car hire. However there is a limit to the amount you can claim. For details of your claim entitlements go to ATT Payment Policy.

The other services may have not been paid to local suppliers and you may be required to re-arrange and pay for these services again. To avoid any issues in resort, consumers still wishing to travel should confirm all the elements of their booking and agree terms of payment for these in advance of travel.

Consumers who decide to travel can make a claim under ATOL for the costs they incur in replacing the pre-booked elements of their ATOL protected package. The replacement items must either match the original booking or be of exactly the same standard, board basis, room type, tour etc, as the original. The consumer's claim in any event cannot exceed the cost of their original flight inclusive package holiday (including flights).

If you paid for your original trip either partially or fully by credit card directly to Markhor Traders Ltd, your claim will be with the credit card provider for the portion you paid by credit card and the CAA for payments by other methods. See credit card letter below. You should check with your credit card provider prior to travelling to establish what you may be entitled to claim from them. If you choose to travel, you should ensure that you retain a clear receipt for replacement elements, which will be required in order to make a claim for reimbursement from the CAA. You will only be entitled to claim for any replacement costs from the CAA up to the cost of your original trip, less the amount originally paid by credit card. In order to make a claim we will require all the original documentation and proof of payment to Markhor Traders Ltd along with proof of payment and receipts for the replacement elements. Please refer to the ATT Payment Policy (Paragraph 1.19.11) for full details. Please note claims cannot exceed the total cost of the original booking made with Markhor Traders Ltd.

On an ATOL protected “Flight-Only”

If you booked a flight directly with Markhor Traders Ltd, were issued with an ATOL Certificate and confirmation which state “Flight-Only” and you hold scheduled tickets the flight may be valid and you may still be able to travel. Consumers are advised to check with the airline.

If the airline advises that a ticket has not been issued or is not valid, consumers should ask the airline to confirm this in writing as this confirmation will be needed to make a claim.

If you booked a flight directly with Markhor Traders Ltd, were issued with an ATOL Certificate and confirmation which state “Flight-Only” and have not been issued with flight tickets, you will not be able to travel and can make a claim for a refund.

If you paid for your ATOL flight booking either partially or fully by credit card to Markhor Traders Ltd, your claim will be with the credit card provider for the portion you paid by credit card and the CAA for payments by other methods.
